Colourful Easter Markets in Vienna
#1 Old Viennese Easter Market on Freyung Square
The Easter counterpart to the traditional Old Viennese Christmas Market on the historic market square in the centre of Vienna has become an institution in its own right. After all, who wouldn't want to marvel at the largest mountain of eggs in Europe? There are also lots of beautifully decorated eggs to take home, as well as many (Easter) handicrafts from Austria and neighbouring countries.
For the little ones, there is a children's programme with a puppet show in the morning!
- Open: 15 March – 1 April 2024
- Daily from 10.00 am – 8.00 pm
- Live music from 4.30 pm
#2 Schönbrunn Palace Easter Market
The giant eggs give it away from afar: the Easter market is open again in front of Schönbrunn Palace. Around 60 exhibitors offer delicious sweets, Easter decorations, handicrafts and toys. There are traditional dishes such as stuffed dumplings with Easter ham, but vegetarians and vegans will also have plenty to choose from. Younger guests will love the carousel or crafting in the Easter bunny workshop.
Henriette's tip: After visiting the market, take a walk through Schönbrunn Palace Park and immerse yourself in the lush spring greenery.
- Open: 16 March – 2 April 2024
- Daily from 10.00 am – 6.00 pm
#3 Easter at Hirschstetten Flower Gardens
The gardens of the Hirschstetten Flower Gardens are not on the classic tourist routes, but are definitely worth a visit. 70,000 spring flowers have been planted for spring 2024 alone! At the annual Easter market, you will find many regional culinary delicacies as well as artistic Easter items such as hand-painted eggs and traditional Easter candles. The children's programme is particularly colourful; the Hirschstetten Zoo, also located in the flower gardens, is another highlight for all ages.
You can reach the flower gardens from the Stadthotel Henriette in approx. 30 minutes by public transport: Underground line U1 to Kagraner Platz, tram line 26 to Spargelfeldstraße
- Open: 30 March – 1 April 2024
- Daily from 9.00 am – 6.00 pm
#4 Am Hof Easter Market
Not far from the Old Viennese Easter Market on the Freyung and also in the heart of the city is the Easter Market Am Hof. With its artistically decorated eggs and flower arrangements, it is fully dedicated to Easter customs. Traditional arts and crafts also meet young design, creative and tasty gift ideas, which you can of course also sample on site.
When the weather is nice, the Easter market Am Hof is of course the perfect starting or ending point for a stroll through Vienna's city centre.
- Open: 15 March – 1 April 2024
- Monday to Thursday: 11.00 am – 8.00 pm (lock-up time 9.00 pm)
- Friday to Sunday and holidays: 10.00 am – 8.00 pm (lock-up time 9.00 pm)
#5 Easter art market at Neugebäude Palace
Easter shopping within old walls has a very special flair. Neugebäude Palace in Simmering (11th district) is one of the most important Renaissance buildings in Vienna and yet relatively unknown - an insider tip just waiting to be discovered by you! The small Easter market with culinary delights and numerous stalls selling handicrafts offers the perfect opportunity to do just that.
Neugebäude Palace can also be reached from the Stadthotel Henriette by public transport (underground lines U1, U3, bus 73A). It's best to allow a little extra time for the excursion, which can be perfectly combined with a visit to Vienna's legendary Central Cemetery.
- Open: 21 – 24 March 2024
- Thursday to Saturday: 2.00 pm – 9.00 pm
- Sunday: 10.00 am – 8.00 pm
