Proven environmental and social Commitment at the Henriette City Hotel

Certifications

Nice words are one thing – but let's see some proof!

Sustainability is not only about talking – it's all about action. Sustainability at the Hotel Henriette also has to be measurable – then and only then can you compare and can we improve. That's why we use various certifications to classify what we do for people and the environment in a clear framework. Or in several, depending on the topic and focus.

We have put together a brief overview for you:

Certificates for 360° sustainability

ECOnGOOD Common Good Balance Sheet

The Common Good Balance Sheet is the result of our work towards the Economy for the Common Good, all expressed in figures. It presents our progress in the areas of human dignity, solidarity and justice, ecological sustainability, transparency and democratic participation in a matrix.

The balance sheet total shows the percentage to which the legal requirements are exceeded. Our last total – 410 points* – means that we exceed legal requirements by a whopping 41%. Lots has been achieved – but there is still lots to do!

ESG Rating – SDI* Sustainable Development Index

Be honest: Do you know what an ESG rating is? Soon to be mandatory, it's a topic that’s on everyone's lips. It assesses a company's sustainable and ethical practices according to environmental, social and governance criteria.

The SDI*Rating is an ESG rating especially for hotels. It precisely measures Henriette Stadthotel's successes and potential for improvement. It also takes the Sustainable Development Goals into account and calculates how they are fulfilled and the hotel's carbon footprint. The result is shown in an SDI*Score between 0 and 100 – our current score is 81.

*Theoretically, a total of 1,000 points are possible. However, it is impossible to achieve this number under current legislation. It is intended to show politicians the potential for change.

Austrian Ecolabel & EU Ecolabel

The state-awarded Austrian Ecolabel and the Europe-wide EU Ecolabel are the first eco-certifications our hotel was awarded. We first become an Ecolabel hotel in 2005, and our EU Ecolabel followed in 2014.

We have put together more information for you about Henriette's "oldest" seals of approval on a separate page »

organic breakfast in vienna

Certificates for good & organic food

Have you ever looked so forward to a breakfast buffet full of variety, only to lose your appetite when  you see the run-of-the-mill food packaged in plastic? Then you will love the breakfast buffet at the Hotel Henriette and it's proven quality:

Gaumen Hoch: silver

Our organic certification as part of our cooperation with the platform GAUMEN HOCH is conducted annually by LVA GmbH. Currently, 72.4% of all of our food served at breakfast is organic – which has earned Henriette silver in this category.

Natürlich Gut Essen: silver

And because it's better to be safe than sorry, we have our organic breakfast certified twice! The criteria for the city of Vienna's NATÜRLICH GUT ESSEN ("Naturally Good Food") organic seal is audited by BIOS Austria. Here, we are also proud of our silver status.

Fairtrade food & beverage partner

As a food & beverage partner of FAIRTRADE Austria, we have served only Fairtrade coffee since 2022. Oh, and only organic coffee, of course. The chocolate spread on your breakfast roll and bananas in your muesli are also Fairtrade.

By the way: our tea and cocoa are not only Fairtrade certified, but also fairly traded. Our partner Sonnentor focuses on direct trade and personal relationships (and audits) with their growing partners.
