How Does Winning the TRIGOS 2024 Award Affect Your Sleep?
Henriette and Mission Microplastic
The very short answer:
Mission Microplastic I: For restful, plastic-free sleep
Do you often struggle to get a good night's sleep in hotels? One reason might actually be the bedding: Hotel bed linens (even organic ones) are usually made from a cotton-synthetic blend or entirely from polyester. This makes them easier to care for and cheaper. But "sleeping in plastic" is just as unpleasant as it sounds. And it’s not just bad for guests: According to the Fraunhofer Institute, fiber shedding from synthetic textiles during washing is the 10th largest source of microplastic in nature.
Not at Henriette! The bed linens at Henriette Stadthotel are made from 100% natural materials: organic cotton or organic linen.
- No textile microplastics released into water during washing
- Volume: approx. 20,000 sets of linens washed per year
And additionally:
- Free from harmful and irritating substances
- Moisture-regulating, temperature-balancing, and breathable
Fiber shedding during textile washing is the 10th largest source of primary microplastic in nature.
Mission Microplastic II: For a room climate that feels like fresh air
When you enter our rooms, you’ll notice it immediately: the air is pleasantly soft, there’s no harsh cleaning product smell, just a clean, fresh, well-ventilated atmosphere. Here, you can truly breathe easy!
How come? As the first hotel in Vienna, we clean the rooms at Hotel Henriette entirely with ultra-hot micro-dry steam. Chemical-free and residue-free.
Cleaning without chemicals not only creates a healthy indoor climate, it also helps to protect our waters:
- 90% less water usage than conventional cleaning
- No chemicals released into wastewater
- No microplastics in wastewater (from cleaning agents and plastic containers)
- Volume: approx. 22,000 room cleanings per year
And additionally:
- No plastic packaging waste from cleaning products
- No triggers for respiratory issues, allergies, or skin irritation
